Mulla Omer warns Ulema against attending Kabul moot
10 January, 2013
KARACHI: The Majlis-e-Shura of Afghan Taliban has appealed to Ulema associated with Darul Aloom Deoband and Jamia Al Azhar not to take part in the 'Ulema Conference' called by the Afghan government in Kabul by the end of January.
Warning clerics from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, India and Afghanistan, the Shura said the participants of the conference will be 'answerable to God' and will be counted as 'fake' in the court of the masses.
In a four-page message, the Taliban said after tasting defeat, the US want a dignified retreat from Afghanistan so as to wash stains off its face. Authorised by Mulla Omer, the message said in the eyes of the masses, the conference is called by the Afghan government but in reality it is called by the US. Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Abdurrehman and famous clerics from India and Pakistan are being contacted to attend the moot.
The Taliban said that the US wanted to take opinion of the Ulema after 11 years of war only to pave way for permanent occupation of Afghanistan and creation of doubts among its people.
They said that they are offspring of Ulema and Ulema should know that participation in the conference will strengthen the US and betray them. They claimed that had they not put up resistance to the US in Afghanistan, many Muslim countries would have been facing an Iraq-like situation.
They said no word of virtue will come out of the conference, dashing down all hopes for a way forward. They said western secret agencies will let the world know only what they want and relay of photos of clerics will be repeated on media to their indignation.
They said the US economy is falling and there is no civil war in Afghanistan. According to the message, Nato has admitted that Taliban attacked them 18,000 times in 2010, 21,000 times in 2011 and 2012 proved bloodier than previous years.
It said the US and its allies are under stress and want to pull out of Afghanistan and it is in this situation that the US has come down on its knees in front of clerics. Hoping that Ulema will not participate in the moot, the Taliban said they will not lay down weapons until achievement of their goals and establishment of a real Islamic state.
