ISLAMABAD, July 20 (Online): The government has so far failed to remove name of Mukhtaran Mai, the victim of Mianwali gang rape, from the Exit Control List notwithstanding repeated claims by government spokesmen that she is free to travel abroad.

A visit to the National Accountability Bureau's official website on Tuesday reveals the ECL was updated on July 14. But it still carries names of Mukhtaran Mai, interior minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Northern Affairs minister Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat on it, prohibiting them from traveling out of the country.

An outcry by media and human rights activists from within and outside their country has recently made the government to reverse its previous decision to place name of Mukhtaran Mai, who was gang-raped on the order of a village council in 2002, on the Exit Control List.

End.

Mukhtaran Mai's name

Media and wrong people made this very issue and inflamed to those heights that Mukhtaran Mai has become a cel. There are so many similar cases in the west no one takes any notice of them. They are judged by the courts and punished. Its better to stop this nonsense in Pakistan on this issue which is not that much important to keep bringing again and again.

MUKHTAR MAI AN INSTALMENT SERIAL DRAMA

A news item reads “though mere a coincidence another women named Mukhtar Mai has been gang raped by six person for one moth”.

According to details the father Nawaz Shahbaz, a labourer, was out for work when 6 people forcibly entered his residence in Kala Shah Kaku. They took his daughter to a farm house and gang raped her for one month. The father beseeched them to let his daughter go but repeated appeals fell on deaf ears. She fled finding an opportunity and then accompanied with her father to file a report to police station.

ALLAH may keep every one safe from such happenings. AMEEN. Rape is worst farm of crime against women and the society. I believe those who have real true inner respect for their own mothers, sisters, daughters, never even look or stare with ugly eyes towards women folk of others let alone rape them.

However, the way Mukhtar Mai of Multan division has been posed by the vested interests, NGOs, columnist both at home and abroad, it will not be surprising if in future we hear, false or correct, gradual increase in installment of Mukhtar Mai series as this is going to be an quick way of easy money, easy fame, easy visas for European heavens.

The labourer's daughter was abducted. When he came home he came to know “who” abducted her and he remained silent. For a hole month he just “pleaded” the culprits to “let her go home” and did not go to Police Station where he has today after a month gone. He did not ask his neighbourers seeking help. He did not cry what he is crying today. Why? We will now keep hearing such cases as it is easy money easy fame.
