Mufti Kifayat at loggerheads with party leadership

05 February, 2014

PESHAWAR: A rift has emerged in Maulana Fazlur Rahman's JUI-F after one of its former lawmakers, Mufti Kifayatullah, criticized his party leadership for dissociating from the peace process involving the TTP.

Mufti Kifayatullah had been named by the TTP as one of the five politicians and clerics in its negotiating team. He had eagerly accepted the offe.

However, the JUI-F core committee meeting chaired by Fazlur Rahman stopped Mufti Kifayatullah from joining the TTP negotiations team. Upset by the decision, Mufti Kifayatullah said he wanted to represent the TTP in his private capacity.

End.
