Miscellaneous petition filed against Gen Kayani's extension

13 November, 2012

ISLAMABAD: A miscellaneous petition, to ensure speedy intra court review against the earlier ruling of Islamabad High Court (IHC) regarding extension of Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, has been filed.

The miscellaneous petition filed by Col (Retd) Inam-ur-Rahim advocate, reviewed by a two-member Divisional Bench comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, prays that the review of intra court appeal had been scheduled for Oct 23, but had to be cancelled due to redundancy of cause list.

The petition holds that General Kayani's extension stood as illegal, unethical, unconstitutional and imprudent due to the fact that Kayani was already past his 60-year official age limit, and thus could not avail any extension(s).

The petitioner has also derided the recent statement of COAS as a sheer transgression of his (COAS) constitutional ambit(s), and was nothing short of mere political gimmickry, which could very well affect, shake the very foundations, fabric of Country's entire society structure.

The petitioner has also prayed for an earliest possible review of his intra-court petition, against the extension granted to Gen Kayani.

End.
