BANNU: The police said that a militant was killed while another apprehended by local residents on Thursday after an exchange of fire at Kotka Molagan in Bannu district.
Local residents and supporters of JUI-F local leader Taimour Shah spotted three militants, belonging to North Waziristan, when they were allegedly planting an explosive device near the residence of JUI-F leader in the limits of Saddar police station.
The miscreants were asked to surrender but instead they opened fire on people. After retaliatory firing, a militant was killed and another apprehended. The apprehended militant was later handed over to the police.
The miscreants, who were in their early teens, belonged to village Khesokhel, Mir Ali tehsil of North Waziristan. The third miscreant, however, escaped from the scene.
According to police, the militants had demanded money from Taimour Shah and upon his refusal tried to plant the bomb.
