Mid-term polls demand won't be unconstitutional: Khursheed
27 May, 2014
OKARA: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that the government should change its attitude or the demand for mid-term elec-tions would not be unconstitutional.
He said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) stood with democracy and not with the government. The day the people would stand up against the government, the PPP, being a people's party, would stand by them.
Talking to a delegation, led by former minister and PPP district president Muhammad Ashraf Sohna, here on Monday, Khursheed said that the PPP parliamentarians took oath only to save the system despite having serious reservations over the rigged election results.
He said the government had failed to provide relief to the people despite the passage of over a year. He said a new wave of protests and demonstrations showed anger and restlessness among the masses. He warned that the PPP was keenly observing the situation.
