10 May, 2018
PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday ordered the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar tragedy, which took place on 16 December 2014.
Justice Nisar demanded a report on the incident from concerned officials within two months. The hearing of the case was held at the Supreme Court’s Peshawar Registry.
The judicial inquiry was a request from the families of the martyred.
On December 16, 2014, six terrorists of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) attacked APS and shot dead around 150 people, the majority of them young students.
On December 2, 2015, Pakistan hanged four terrorists involved in the APS attack, whereas Omar Khorasani, the mastermind of the attack, was killed in a drone attack in Afghanistan on October 18, 2017. The Supreme Court of Pakistan upheld the death sentences of two more convicts involved in the attack.
