Metro Bus... By Hanna

13 February, 2013

One holds many lofty dreams and hopes for the Metro Bus Service. The citizens of Lahore have waited a year and have suffered massive inconvenience just to be able to avail this facility. As a means of mass transit, the bus service does hold serious potential but, if the first day is anything to go by, the mainstay of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif may prove to be an idea that just could not work.

Apparently, the buses were extremely overcrowded and people kept making a mad dash, jumping across the rails and steel bars, to get to the buses on time. This could be because of the free fares for the first month of operations but one can fathom the Pakistani public never really learning a lesson on basic civility and manners. Along with the bus service, Mr Shahbaz Sharif should also have published some books and instructional manuals on the etiquette of bus travel so that the public learn a thing or two as well.
