Mengal rejects PML-N proposal to become caretaker PM
15 September, 2012
QUETTA: Veteran Baloch leader Sardar Attaullah Mengal on Friday strongly rejected the proposal of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to become the caretaker premier. Talking to reporters, Mengal termed it a "cruel joke" and said how could he become the interim PM of Pakistan where military operations in Balochistan since 2005 had left hundreds of political leaders, intellectuals, poets, writers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, students and university teachers dead. "At old age, I have no courage to face relatives of martyred people who lost their lives in a legitimate struggle for national rights. Balochistan is in the war zone and people are being killed even today and generally the state functionaries are blamed for the killings," the first chief minister of Balochistan said. Sardar Ataullah Mengal had also rejected the PML-N's proposal to become a presidential candidate against PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari. End.
