Media's apathy... By Riaz

25 January, 2014

Balochistan has always been in trouble as far as human rights are concerned. People around the country know very little what the residents of this region go through. But the media has been too conspicuous for its apathy.

Though FATA and Balochistan have become no-go-areas for the media, the effort by them to get to the bottom of the problem facing the province is also missing. The relatives of the missing persons who had walked all the way from Balochistan to Sindh have gone largely underreported in the mainstream media. It was deliberately given a low profile. Is this what freedom of press is all about.
