14 June, 2012
LAHORE: Zahid Hussain Bukhari, counsel for property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, on Wednesday said that whatever his client uttered in a press conference on Tuesday was his personal view and he (Bukhari) was not consulted about the media briefing.
Talking to reporters on the Lahore High Court Bar Association premises, Bukhari, who claimed to charge the best fee of his career from Malik Riaz for his suo motu proceedings before the Supreme Court, said that he was only responsible for what was said before the court. He said that the press conference did not fall under purview of contempt law.
Talking about the suo motu proceedings in Dr Arsalan Iftikhar case, he said that the Supreme Court could not hold investigation into the case, adding that other institutions would investigate it in accordance with law.
Bukhari said an investigation agency such as the Federal Investigation Agency or National Accountability Bureau should probe it. He said that he had requested the court to form a commission to investigate the case.
