LAHORE: Tehrik Minhajul Quran (TMQ) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has alleged that government was promoting terrorism itself to divert public attention from its plunders.

"Terrorists are sitting in the government ranks but hue and cry is being made at others," he said while addressing a lawyers convention at the party secretariat Wednesday. Qadri said no matter how much terror and harassment the government made for him and his followers, the long march would be held at all costs, as it is Almighty Allah only who is the giver of life and death.

Qadri said that the federal government has failed to control terrorism, and the Punjab government has successfully protected and promoted terrorism.

Tahirul Qadri said he had incorporated the martyrdoms in his agenda for change, so that the success could be had only by offering sacrifices. He praised the lawyers' struggle for the rule of law and democracy. The TMQ chief warned that the ruling elite and their gangs wanted to return to power at all costs to continue their loot and plunder but he was determined to no longer allow the corrupt rulers stay in the office and continue their electoral dictatorship.

He said the rulers know that their case is weak and that is they are avoiding to hold negotiations with him. He offered to negotiate with those who speak truth and justice. He said the rulers only believed in negotiations for the sake of conspiring and compromising. Qadri warned if the security will check their CNICs, the marchers will check their tattoos.

Tahirul Qadri continued that there was no treasury and opposition in the country, since all sides are united for plundering the public money and national exchequer. He pledged not to take rest till successfully making proposed reforms in electoral and political process. He said the electoral process was made so costly that not even the affluent could afford to contest elections fairly, what to talk of common man, whereas party tickets are sold for millions of rupees in the name of party funds.

Tahirul Qadri said the masses were deprived of two square meals while the ruling capitalists are multiplying their wealth in days and hours. Meanwhile, MQM has followed suit after Majlis Wahdatul Muslemin (MWM) to announce full participation in Tahirul Qadri's proposed long march on January 14.

An MQM delegation led by senior leader Haider Abbas Rizvi called on Tehreek Minhajul Quran leadership Wednesday to discuss preparations of the long march and announced that the party would participate in the march at all costs despite being a government ally. The MWM leaders made a similar announcement on the previous day.

Addressing the media following the meeting with TMQ delegation led by secretary general Dr Raheeq Abbasi, Haider Abbas Rizvi declared that January 14 would prove to be the day of masses' victory over the forces of feudalism and capitalism.

He said a large number of MQM supporters would arrive from Karachi, Sindh, Punjab and other parts of the country to join the long march.

Rizvi said the federal government has called 25,000 personnel of the police, besides putting containers entry and exit points to block the long march. He said the interior minister had issued instructions not to allow entry in Islamabad without NIC and threatened to charge the expenditures of the security from the organizers of the long march.

He maintained that MQM activists and TMQ supporters were being harassed by the authorities to bar them from participating in the long march.
