Logar Hajj and Auqaf head shot dead

KABUL: Unidentified gunmen shot dead the Hajj and Auqaf chairman of Logar in Muhammad Agha district of the province yesterday, an official said Sunday .
Unknown armed men opened fire on the Logar Hajj and Auqaf Chairman Maulvi Ghulam Rasul in Wagh Jan bazaar in Muhammad Agha district, killing him on the spot, the Logar security in-charge Khan Sadiq Abdul Rahimzai told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
The attackers fled the scene, he said, adding investigation had been launched after registering a case into the incident.
The deceased, a resident of Mughal Khel village in Muhammad Agha district, was serving as the provincial chairman Hajj and Auqaf for the last four years, he added.
An eyewitness told the AIP that unknown armed motorcyclists wearing army uniform shot dead Maulvi Ghulam Rasul while he was coming out of a shop in the area. No one has claimed responsibility for his killing till filling of this report.
Meanwhile, three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and six more injured in separate incidents in various parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said Sunday.
The ANA troops suffered the casualties in bomb blasts and attacks of the armed opponents in Ghazni, Logar and Kunar provinces over the past 24 hours, a defence ministry press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) stated.
An ANA soldier was killed and five injured in Ghazni, one lost his life and another sustained injuries in Logar's capital Pul-i-Alam and one was killed in Shegal district in Kunar province in IED strikes and attacks of the armed opponents, the press release explained.
It added eight armed opponents had been arrested and some war gadgets seized in Logar and Kunar provinces during the same period.
