ISLAMABAD: Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has welcomed the approval by the Supreme Court of the draft letter that is to be sent to the Swiss authorities and said that the court had agreed to all the concerns of the government, and termed it a good omen.

Talking to media on Wednesday, the former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president said President Asif Zardari enjoyed immunity and the apex court has acknowledged this constitutional provision.

"President's immunity has been accepted by the court 100 percent which is contained in the draft letter to be sent to Swiss authority," he declared. "I have been saying it from the day first that a letter to Swiss authorities would be written if the reservations of the government were addressed."

Aitzaz said it was a good omen that the Supreme Court had accepted the concerns of the government. He said no trial of the president could be initiated through the letter.

End.
