Lending credit to the image... By Aneeta

12 March, 2013

Whatever happened in Lahore in Joseph Colony a few days back is, no doubt, something that portrays a dreadfully negative picture of the most humane and gentle religion in the universe. Those who are behind this incident should be ashamed of themselves because they have distorted the sublime and serene image of Islam. For the last many years, the blasphemy law is being exploited and misused for specific individual interests. It has been mentioned nowhere in the Quran and the Hadith that the people belonging to the minorities must be victimised in such a brutal and inhumane way. We can also not find any example of such callous behaviour in the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The faces behind the Badami Bagh incident simply strengthened the international propaganda against Pakistan of how ir is a hub of terrorism-based-extremism.

Those who are involved in the burning and looting of the houses of innocent Christians in Lahore have provided a certificate of authenticity to the image created in the western media about Pakistan. At this critical time it is the responsibility of the whole nation to stand by the helpless Christians and support them with all possible sources. Islam is a religion of peace and harmony. It has nothing to do with extremism and terrorism. We, the people of Pakistan, our government and our security forces all have been facing the worst consequences of terrorism for the last many years. We must take to task all those rascals who are trying to spill water on our sincere efforts against terrorism and extremism.
