Latif Khosa appointed Punjab governor

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, on Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s advice appointed Sardar Muhammad Latif Khan Khosa as the Punjab governor. The president signed the summary of Khosa’s appointment, forwarded to him by the PM to appoint the senator as the new Punjab governor on Tuesday night, president’s spokesman Farhatullah Babar said. A notification has been issued in this regard, a private TV channel reported. According to official sources, the governor-designate will take oath at the Governor’s House today (Wednesday) at 1pm. Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhary will administer the oath. Earlier this week, an elaborate meeting was held between Khosa and the PM. Later, the PM sent the summary to the president with recommendation for appointing Khosa as the new Punjab governor, the channel reported. Khosa, a senator and advocate, was the previous attorney general of Pakistan. He was appointed the AG on August 19, 2008. The governor’s seat had fell vacant after the murder of late Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer. End.
