Lakki terror plan foiled, bomber killed

PESHAWAR: A suicide bomber blew himself up near a Shia gathering in a northwestern Pakistani town on Friday after police had intercepted and shot him, officials said. The incident took place in the town of Lakki Marwat, some 165 kilometres southwest of Peshawar. "A suicide bomber was coming in an auto-rickshaw towards a Shia gathering at their worship place," district police chief Idrees Khan told AFP. "Police stopped the rickshaw at a checkpoint and the suicide bomber jumped out and ran, after which police shot him but in the meanwhile he blew himself up," Khan said. Two policemen were injured in the blast, APP cited TV reports. End.
