Lack of vision... By Amjad

Due to continuous lack of vision, planning and consistency on the part of our government we have messed up things to such an extent that we cannot find a way out now. We are entangled in so many suo motu cases of the superior courts that other important issues seem to have taken a backseat. The incapable government is also busy in reversing its wrong decisions and actions complying with the court's orders but all of it has baffled the nation. All we hear from the elected government is its desire to complete its five-year tenure. They are indifferent to the growing agitation among the masses due to increasing difficulties in day-to-day life. The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) government should review its performance and look at the mismanagement done by its people in almost every project they started. The government should realise that they got this mandate after an ex-army general, for his own ulterior motives, enacted the infamous National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). Time is fast running out. The international changing scenario and the US elections are building up pressure on the US and NATO authorities to change their stance on the Afghan war. We need to think seriously and watch our interests. We need sincere and visionary politicians who can comprehend the situation as it is developing. I do not see anyone on the horizon to be able to demonstrate these qualities. We only have empty slogans and tall claims. Daily we see theatrical dramas in TV talk shows performed by so-called politicians. Just not being corrupt is a criterion of winning votes and coming to power. What a pity! AMJAD H MIRZA
