ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been granted four-day physical remand of former Pakistan Television (PTV) media coordinator Mian Khurram Rasool in a Rs 630 million Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) quota scam after dismissal of his pre-arrest bail from a special court in Lahore. Meanwhile, in the investigation of another scam worth Rs 71 million, the court directed the FIA to jointly investigate all cases against Khurram Rasool. On Friday, the FIA produced Khurram after his four-day physical remand in the Rs 71 million sugar allocation quota fraud case. FIA officials informed the court that fake allotment letters of Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and bogus cargo slips had also been recovered from Khurram Rasool in the sugar quota scam. Khurram requested the court for his medical checkup, which was accepted. The court ordered the FIA to conduct a proper checkup of the accused, and directed that medical reports should be placed on record during the next hearing. Earlier, the FIA demanded a further seven-day physical remand of Khurram for investigation in both cases, but the court granted a four-day remand and directed the FIA to jointly investigate both cases. The court also directed the FIA to produce Khurram on February 7 for further proceedings. End.
