KARACHI: An eyewitness in the Advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa murder case on Saturday identified the alleged killer Kazim Abbas Rizvi during an identification parade at the judicial magistrate's court.
The suspect Kazim Abbas, who is accused in the murder of advocate Randhawa, was sent on 14-day physical remand by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on October 2.
Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat during a news conference had said that Kazim Abbas was an MQM activist and the murder of Randhawa was politically motivated.
Randhawa, who was not only associated with the PML-N but was also the counsel in the murder case of Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar killed on September 26.
Meanwhile, judge of the Special Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) Bashir Ahmed Khoso ordered the government to provide security to the prosecutor pursuing the cases pertaining to heinous crimes including Wali Babar murder case.
Prosecutor Abdul Maroof contended before the court in his application that he was ready to take up all the serious cases including Wali Babar murder case but he had certain reservations over his own security as Naimat Ali Randhawa had already been killed. Moreover, the witnesses in that case had also been killed therefore he must be provided with adequate security so that he could perform his duty with complete peace of mind.
According to sources, the Karachi police had assured to provide a squad to Prosecutor Abdul Maroof.
