Karzai welcomes ISAF decision

KABUL: President Hamid Karzai has welcomed ISAF announcement to withdraw troops from Wardak province.

The US special forces are pulling out from the Wardak following the president's order, decision of national security council and on the demands and complaints of the people of the province that they were being suppressed by the US forces and their funded local police, said a press release issued by presidential place here on Thursday.

In the first phase, international force withdraw from Narkh district and the government would deploy Afghan security forces to maintain security in the district.

ISAF said yesterday that they have reached an agreement to pull out troops from Wardak province and would withdraw ISAF troops and local police from Narkh district in the first stage.
