Karzai leaves for New York to attend UN meeting

KABUL: The Afghan President Hamid Karzai Sunday flew to New York in the United States of America to attend the annual conference of the United Nations.
A president's office press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press stated that President Hamid Karzai accompanied by a high-profile delegation would address the UN annual meeting on Tuesday to express the stance of his country.
It added the Afghan President Hamid Karzai was expected to meet leaders of Britian and Pakistan in a trilateral meeting on Wednesday. The meeting is aimed at discussing continuation of mutual cooperation between the three countries and efforts to counter terrorism.
The Afghan delegation is comprised of high-level officials, including Foreign Minister Dr Zalmay Rasool, National Security Adviser Dr Rangin Dadfar Spanta, deputy in-charge of president's office Humera Lodin and presidential spokesman Aimal Faizi.
