Karzai accepts credentials

KABUL: The Afghan President Hamid Karzai accepted credentials of new Uzbekistan ambassador to Afghanistan Khwaja Shad Manov on Thursday. Stressing on expansion of ties, the two leaders said their countries had historic and cultural relations, a president's office press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) stated. Through the visiting ambassador, President Hamid Karzai invited his Uzbekistan counterpart Islam Karimov to pay visit to Afghanistan, the press release added. The Uzbekistan ambassador assured making all-out efforts during his tenure to strengthen ties between the two countries. The Afghan Foreign Minister Dr Zalmay Rasool was also present in the meeting.
