KPK city police thwart bid of terrorism, accused held

PESHAWAR: The City police have thwarted an attempt of terrorism by seizing explosive devices and arms from a flying coach in the limit of Badabar Police Station here, police said on Friday.
On a tip off about smuggling of explosive devices from tribal areas to Peshawar for subversive activities, the Badabar Police Station made blockade at sefan security check post and spotted a suspected flying coach. The police asked the driver to stop for search instead he accelerated speed of the vehicle and was chased.
Police claimed the accused identified as Burad Ali, resident of Muhammadkhel Bannu has started firing at police party that was retailed. The accused was injured during an exchange of firing and was shifted to hospital.
Later, the flying coach was searched that led to recovery of five kilogram bomb, a revolver and others explosives materials.
Three policemen among four injured in blast
At least four persons including three policemen were injured in the bomb blast inside Hashtnagri Police Station on Friday evening, police control confirmed.
According to police control, a blast occurred when explosive fitted in the motor cycle parked inside the premises of the Hashtnagri Police Stadium went off with big bang, injuring three policemen and a civilian who were present in the police station.
Soon after the blast, a fire was also erupted but City Fire Brigade controled the situation. The officials of the security forces also rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area and started relief operation. The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. The BDS team is investigating the incident.
