Justice in our society... By Hashim

28 January, 2014

It is an open secret that people do not feel safe or secure in Pakistani society nowadays. Crime has risen to an unacceptable level and is on an upward trajectory, to say the least. The reports from various parts of the country have revealed that the number of people feeling unsafe in their homes at night has nearly doubled. This means that our state organs and institutions including the legislature, executive and judiciary are not working according to the objectives enshrined and guaranteed in the Constitution of Pakistan. In such a dismal scenario, what will be the future of the state and society, an ordinary man wants to know.

Remembering Dr Salam... By Munawer

January 29th is the date of birth of the Nobel prize winning physicist, Professor Dr Abdus Salam. This day makes me recall the wonders he achieved in the world of science and made Pakistan rise to the pedestal of glory. He passed away silently in Oxford on November 21. Unfortunately the country refused to acknowledge the man and his achievements because he was an Ahmedi. He became a victim of religious bigotry.

Ensure Justice to all citizens!

Alas, such a shabby treatment to our world-acknowledged genius scientist is most regrettable and painful. Such a state of our affairs is due to our national ailing of illiteracy, ignorance, impatience, sectarianism and endless killing by suicide bombing has made our normal, peaceful life impossible and things all around are going downwards, from worse to worst. In order to get-rid of such intolerable situation, it is imperative that our leaders and rulers must revert to the golden ideals and practices of the Founding-Father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who kept politics separate from religion. We must have Pakistan where justice reigns supreme and basic human rights of all citizens, with no reference to ones color, creed or faith, must be guaranteed. In all civilized societies, the golden rule is followed that what you like or desire for your self, do give the same rights to all other members of society.
