Justice impossible while CJP in office: Malik Riaz

11 October, 2012

ISLAMABAD: Real estate tycoon Malik Riaz has filed a petition in the Supreme Court stating justice cannot be delivered in his cases as long as the incumbent chief justice, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, was in office.

Sources said Malik Riaz took the stance that the all criminal and judicial cases against him in the Supreme Court should be delayed until the retirement of Chief Justice Iftikhar. He asked for a fair trial under Article 184 of the constitution.

Meanwhile, Advocate Zahid Hussain Bukhari, counsel for Malik Riaz, said that his client would not appear before the one-man Suddle commission as its term had expired.

Talking to media at the Lahore High Court on Wednesday, Zahid said the Suddle commission had the mandate to complete inquiry in Arsalan Iftikhar case within thirty days but the term had expired on October 5.

End.
