GHAZNI CITY: Gunmen attacked the residence of a private radio channel's regional head in Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province, but inmates escaped unhurt.

Nisar Ahmad Azadzoy, the Killid Radio official, told Pajhwok Afghan News his house in the Qala Azad area was attacked late on Wednesday night by unidentified gunmen from two directions.

But no one was hurt in the assault, said the journalist, who confirmed receiving threats before the attack over the telephone from unknown individuals after reports about land-grab incidents in Ghazni were aired by the radio.

He said the assailants were roaming around his house and they opened fire after he shouted at them. The attackers also fired at a nearby police post before fleeing, but police did not return fire, he added.

Police chief Brig. Gen. Zarawar Zahid said a police party went to the area soon after he was informed about the incident, but no arrest could be made so far. An investigation was underway to track down the attackers, he added.

End.
