KABUL: Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has rejected the impression that Pak-Afghan grand Jirga is being held on the directives of US and President Gen Pervez Musharraf is participating in it on US directives.

Pakistan is a sovereign state. President General Pervez Musharraf should not take decision on directives of anyone, he said this while talking to media men here on Saturday.

The minister said that the Pakistan would continue its effort to bring peace in to the insurgency-wracked country of Afghanistan.   The President is participating in the Jirga with the determination to bring stability and peace in Afghanistan, he maintained.

The concluding session of Jirga would be held today (Sunday) at 11:00 am to be participated by Presidents of both Countries. He said the President would take part in the Jirga on the invitation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.  

He said he is confident with the progress made in the jirga. Pakistan attach to much importance to Jirga which can be observe with the Participation of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz at inaugural session and President Gen Pervez Musharraf at concluding session of the Jirga, he pointed out.
