NOWSHERA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief and head of the Taliban-nominated negotiation committee Maulana Samiul Haq said on Sunday that the political parties should rise above the political divide and join hands for the success of the peace talks.
Talking to reporters at the Darul Uloom Haqqania here, he urged the people to pray for the success of the dialogue process so that an end could be brought to violence and bloodshed, which had already claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.
A former member of the National Assembly Maulana Hamidul Haq, Maulana Anwarul Haq and others were also present on the occasion. He said it was not the time for scoring political points as the country couldn't afford to witness more military operations and the use of force. "We have to save our country and the lives of innocent people or else a civil war could break out," he feared.
Maulana Samiul Haq said it was the duty of every Pakistani to douse the flames of the fire ignited by the imperialist forces to create unrest in the country. The sources said the two members of the Taliban negotiation committee, Prof Muhammad Ibrahim and Maulana Yousaf, also briefed the JUI-S chief about their North Waziristan trip and the meeting with the Taliban Shura by telephone. Earlier, a dua and Quran Khwani was also held for the success of the peace talks.
