JI chief seeks honest leaders for change

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Chief Syed Munawwar Hassan has said that people should realise their responsibility for electing the honest leadership through their votes for change in the country.
He expressed these views while addressing a big public gathering in Lasbella area in the city, on Sunday. A large number of people, including women and children, holding flags and banners participated in the convention.
Hassan said that poverty, ever-increasing prices of essential commodities and lawlessness were the products introduced by the present government in the country. The coalition government had failed to address people's issues.
He said that the sovereignty of the country was under serious threats by the United States. P"rime Minister was convicted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan but still he was in top office of the country, which was a direct insult to 180 million people of the country. The situation could only be changed when the people of the country would change their minds and would elect honest leadership. The change in the country could only be brought by those that had firm faith in Allah and the people should realise their responsibility for electing the honest leadership, he said.
JI central leader Liaquat Baloch the establishment had kept the people of the country divided into various categories and that was why the people were deprived of their rights.
He said that the city of Karachi was being ruined by the target killing and extortion and the people should now support JI for everlasting peace and tranquility in the city.
He said that the secularism and capitalism were being eradicated and the Islam would only replace the deteriorated systems.
JI Karachi Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti in his address said that it was the JI that had struggled for making Karachi a peaceful city but the city was being dominated by those that had created hatred and unrest, damaged the peace and harmony. "Only in the month of May, around 300 persons were killed in the city. JI, however, would continue with its efforts in bringing the city back to its previous identity as the city of peace and harmony. He said that the political parties in coalition government were responsible for crimes in the city. JI would play its role to help the people of the city to get rid of the extortionists and target killers.
JI leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman also spoke on the occasion. On the occasion, resolutions against the United States and the present government were also passed unanimously.
