TEHRAN: Leader of his own faction Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (S) Maulana Sami-ul-Haq has said Islam is opposed to every type of terrorism and blood shed.

Sami-ul-Haq expressed these views while talking at a gathering of the theological students of the Sunni religious school "Jam-e-atul Ahnaf" of the border town of Tayebad here Sunday. "Islam is the only religion to promote peace and brotherhood globally".

He went on to day that the term "Islam" means peace and safety. But enemies try to depict it lopsided.

He further said "when Muslims use the term "peace" numerous times in their conversation and behavior, and seek health and welfare from Almighty Allah for the opposing side, how can they witness violent conduct and approve the same.

He noted that Quran, the sacred book of Muslims, too refers to the safety and soundness of humans and lays much stress on this matter. Hence, a Muslim can not act contrary to his religious teachings and deep-rooted religious beliefs," he added.

He also traveled to Razavi Khorasan on the invitation of the Sunni Muslims of the border city of Tayebad for delivering some speeches said, "Khorasan is like the Holy Ka’aba and the Qibla for us".

He said that Great Khorasan and the ancient Transoxiana were the cradle of knowledge, mysticism, poetry, thought and culture, and if "I am present in this land, it is on account of its being the Qibla and the religious authority.

He also lauded the unity between the Shias and the Sunnis in Khorasan and Iran adding that unity between the Muslims in Iran is clearly observed, which is appreciable.
