SRINAGAR: Indian forces on Saturday detained Huriyat leaders in occupied Kashmir, imposing restrictions ahead of Burhan Wani’s martyrdom anniversary.

According to Kashmir Media Services Joint Resistance Leadership comprising of Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik have called for a complete shutdown on Sunday.

The leaders said that a public meeting will be held before marching towards Wani’s native town.

Burhan Wani was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter on July 8, 2016 in Islamabad district’s Kokernag area.

Earlier, Indian National Investigation Agency shifted Chairperson Dukhtaran-e-Millat Aasiya Andrabi along with her two associates being detained illegally at the Srinagar Central Jail to New Delhi. The agency has detained them over the charges of waging war against India.

Huriyat Leader Muhammad Yasin Malik has been arrested during a raid whereas Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,  Muhammad Ashraf Sehari, Zafar Akbar Butt and Bilal Siddiqui have been put under house arrest or in custody according to KMS. The Joint Resistance Leadership called for a complete shutdown today to protest Andrabi’s shifting.
