Shale gas... By Azfar

Pakistan is estimated to have 105 trillion cubic feet of shale gas reserves and more than nine billion barrels of oil. It is a pity that oil companies in Pakistan haven't explored this valuable resource till now when the country is in dire need of energy. Maybe it is the oil mafia that is hindering the exploration of this gas.
Most of the oil companies in Europe and the US are competing with each other to master the technology of shale gas from those companies that have already succeeded. Due to increased shale gas production in the US and Canada, the price of gas being exported by Russia and the Gulf to European countries could come down, thus preventing them from dictating higher prices for their gas. During the production of shale gas, shale oil is also obtained. It is estimated that shale oil represents 10 percent of the world's crude oil resources. Pakistan should make all-out efforts to explore and develop its shale gas resources. We should put all other less important projects on the backburner and focus on developing shale gas, which could regenerate the industries on which the entire economy of the country depends.
