IHC orders halt to proceedings in Rimsha case

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday ordered the trial court to halt all proceedings in Rimsha Masih case. During the hearing of the case on Friday, chaired by a single bench comprising of IHC Chief Justice (CJ) Iqbal Hameedur Rehman, Advocate Fazalur Rehman, the legal counsel for petitioner, said that his client had not received any court orders and that he had come to court after reading newspapers. Responding to a query of the IHC CJ, Additional Registrar (judicial) Ijaz Ahmad informed the apex court that the court's failure to deliver a proper notice occurred due to the petitioner's failure to submit fee for receiving proper court summons. After the initial hearing of the case on September 25, the apex court, while directing Deputy Attorney General Tariq Mahmood Jehangiri for due coordination had issued notices to Ramna Police Station SHO and all relevant parties to cease any further legal procedures for the case, adjourning any further hearing until September 28.
