KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khowaja on Tuesday issued instructions to all relevant departments and officials to immediately stop misuse of the Tenancy Act.

According to Sindh police spokesperson, he had taken serious notice of media reports regarding misuse of the act. The province's top police official asked the police officials to enquire into the matter and submit a detailed report in this regard.

He also instructed the relevant officials to ensure the proper implementation of the act and ordered to take indiscriminate actions against all those elements found guilty. IGP directed the officials to protect the interests of both tenants and landlords.

He further said that law was being made in pursuance of the implementation of the National Action Plan to curb terrorism in Pakistan, if any person who knowingly violate the law, fails to allow access to the premises or provides incorrect information to the police will be punished.

IGP said that landlords and tenants had certain rights and obligations under the law, which anyone who plans to rent a place should know. Khowaja directed to ensure indiscriminate implementation of rules and regulations regarding the act.
