Hashmi foresees revolution, asks rulers to quit
30 January, 2012
LAHORE: PTI central leader Javed Hashmi has said those who claim to hold the 'seat' of Lahore don't even know the basics of politics. Hashmi, predicting a revolution in the country, also demanded the rulers to quit and warned of public wrath in case they acted against the aspirations of people. Addressing a gathering of party workers, which was named as 'Baghi Rally' by the PTI outside Data Darbar, Javed Hashmi said no deterrence could block the way of Imran's tsunami, which would change the destiny of the nation. Lahore PTI President Mian Mehmood-ul- Rasheed, senior leaders, including Ijaz Chaudhry, Saloni Bokhari, Murad Raas, Haris Salim, Andaleeb Abbas and others, were also present. The PTI activists kept shouting the slogans of 'Baghi Aya, Baghi Aya' as the vehicle of Hashmi entered Lahore from the Thokar Niaz Beg area for the first time since he joined the PTI. The procession started from Thokar Niaz Beg and concluded at the Data Darbar, where the former PML-N leader addressed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, Javed Hashmi said he had great love for the people of Lahore who had elected him many times, adding like the past, the historic city was once again going to play an important role in the country's politics. He further said at a time when the so-called leaders left their voters and supporters high and dry, he fought for the rights of people and was imprisoned by a dictator like Pervez Musharraf. Criticising the rulers, he said corruption was rapidly on the rise in the PPP rule and the gap between have and have-nots was also increasing just due to the accumulation of wealth in a few hands. He said the rulers seemed to be having a false perception about the nation that it was ignorant of their wrongdoings but this thinking was far from reality. He said the nation was well aware of all the deals of the rulers with their foreign masters and they knew who allowed the US to launch drone strikes or imprison the nation's daughter, Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He went on to say that the people would show the rulers their real face in the next general elections and would prove that they wanted a leader who could save them from plunderers and corrupt elements. He said Imran Khan was the leader who had resolved to save Pakistan and the entire nation stood behind him in this mission. End.
