Hammadullah Madni survives attack; guard killed

KARACHI: Maulana Hammadullah Madni, the leader of Samiul Haq group of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, survived a murderous attack while his security guard lost his life near railway track in Block 13-D-3, Gulshan-e-Iqbal here on Friday.

Police said that it was the third attack on Madni. In this attack, the brother, another security guard and a driver of van were also injured.

Police said that Maulana's brother Affan Madni and two private security guards - Safdar and Akbar -were going in vehicle to offer Friday prayers when unidentified armed men riding a motorbike intercepted their vehicle and opened fire.

Maulana and school children remained safe in the attack, but his brother, two security guards and a private school van driver Imdad sustained injuries.

They were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctor pronounced the security guard Safdar dead.
