Govt to provide all possible help to Afghan refugees: PM Ashraf

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday reiterated the commitment of the government to provide every possible assistance for the rehabilitation of Afghan refugees.

The prime minister was talking to Minister for States and Frontier Region Engineer Shaukatullah and MNA Asma Arbab Alamgir, who called on him at the Prime Minister's House. Raja said that despite meagre resources, Pakistan had been hosting nearly three million refugees and providing basic amenities to them. "They are getting education in Pakistani institutions and doing business here," he added.

Minister for SAFRON apprised the prime minister about the steps taken by UNHCR for repatriation of Afghan refugees. Asma Arbab Alamgir apprised the prime minister about her recent visit to UNHCR Headquarters, Geneva, where she held meetings with the high commissioner for refugees.

Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Shah was also present during the meeting.
