LAHORE: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) chief Talal Bugti on Wednesday said the government should provide basic rights to the Baloch, or else he country may face consequences.

After a meeting with Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP-Noorani) President Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair and Secretary General Zawar Bahadur, Talal said that the army and intelligence agencies should have no role in politics. The JWP leader said the army operation was going on in Balochistan. He demanded that the government abolish no-go areas in the areas of Marri and Bugti tribes.

Talal pressed Punjab to play its role for the resolution of Balochistan issue and added that Punjab was like an elder brother. Talal said that the whole Punjab had assured cooperation in resolving all issues prevailing in Balochistan. He announced that he would persuade all Baloch leaders staying abroad to return home.

About the formation of a grand alliance before general elections, the JWP president said that he was ready to include all political parties in grand alliance except the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He categorically said that the MQM and PML-Q would not be approached for the grand alliance.

To a question regarding Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira's statement over withdrawal of FC from the province, he replied that Kaira had no authority to recall forces from the province. "Qamar Zaman Kaira has no authority. How can he control army?" he said.

He said that clerics had declared former military ruler Pervez Musharraf non-believer, added that Musharraf should be killed in an ambush for killing patriotic peoples. Talal was of the view that PPP provided an opportunity to the killers of Benazir Bhutto to flee from the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the JUP leaders vowed to support Talal Bugti over the Balochistan issue. The JUP president said his party was in contact with all political and religious parties to forge a grand alliance before general elections.

Abul Khair said that PML-N and other political and religious parties assured to resolve the Balochistan issue. He also said the JUP would play a vital role in grand alliance. Talking about the Balochistan situation, he said "secret hands" wanted to bring puppet rulers into power.

Later, talking to reporters at a luncheon given by the PML-N, Talal said that he would hold a public meeting in Lahore following his appearance in the court on October 18. He said that the PML-N and religious parties had extended their full support for attending the public meeting. He said that talks with Sajid Mir and Allama Sajid Naqvi were carried out in a cordial environment.
