KARACHI: MQM chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the terrorist attack on the Islamabad district courts and asked the government to hit back at the terrorists and crush them.

In a statement issued on Monday, Altaf Hussain expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the killing of innocent people by the terrorists. "Terrorists are massacring innocent people, which is highly condemnable," he said.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences with the members of the families who had lost their loved ones in the attack and prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded persons.

The MQM leader urged the government to arrest the perpetrators of Monday's attack and use all available state machinery to eradicate terrorism from the country.

Altaf also discussed on telephone the security of the country, terrorism, religious hatred, sectarianism and some other issues with chief Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) head Tahirul Qadri, a private TV channel reported.

Altaf suggested highlighting the role of religious scholars and ulema in order to eliminate religious extremism from the country and to promote moderation.

The MQM chief told Qadri that his party is going to organise Sufiya-e-Karam Conference in Lahore on March 9 for this purpose. He invited Qadri and his associates to the conference.

Qadri welcomed the conference, which aims to highlight the services of Sufis and religious scholars, and assured Altaf that the Minhajul Quran's Ulema Council and its related wings will attend it.

End.
