SRINAGAR: In occupied Kashmir, a family of Bandipora has said that the government gunmen (Ikhwanis) thrashed them heavily with iron rods and critically injured one of the family members. Lateef Ahmad Dar, one of those attacked by the Ikhwanis, at Hakbara in Sonawari area of Bandipora told media men that they were assaulted without any reason. He said that the Ikhwanis attacked his brother, Naseer Ahmad Dar, with an axe and he was battling for life at a hospital in Srinagar. Lateef said that his brother was on his way to Government Degree College Bemina when he was intercepted and assaulted by the Ikhwanis. "When we heard my brother was screaming for help, we moved out and saw Naseer was lying in a pool of blood. When we tried to save him, the Ikhwanis started beating all our six family members. My father was grievously injured and was hospitalized at the district hospital," he added. He said that the police were trying to hush up the case and were not arresting the accused. Meanwhile, a group of Bemina Degree College students staged a protest and demanded strict action against those involved in the incident. "We want the people who had attacked our fellow should be arrested immediately," the students said. End.
