Going green?... By Ahsan

A recent trend in motor vehicles betrays how far ahead the country has gone in its petrol and inflationary crisis. It can now be seen that every third car is a hybrid – one of those electric cars that are famously touted as not being gas guzzlers and being easier on the pocket. The upper middle class has resorted to buying more expensive imported hybrid cars because the long term benefits outweigh the initial cost. It is thought that they can substantially cut fuel costs. It must be said that Pakistanis are not turning towards these hybrids because they want to go green but because they want to go easy on their pockets. The quick entry of the hybrid car shows just how expensive and out of reach petrol has become for the average car owner. The government must look into this trend and understand how the people are trying to cope with the extreme inflation. Some sort of subsidy on petrol must be given. AHSAN IJAZ
