Girls forced to study in a boys school... By Ans

16 January, 2013

I believe that Daily Times stands for the truth. I wish to highlight a matter so that a solution is reached at the earliest. I believe your voice is stronger than ours. The following has been verified by my sources and I do believe I am stating the facts.

As it is known, the Punjab government is spending a lot of money on the Daanish School system, laptop scheme and many other projects with billions of rupees being spent in different ways. In Jhelum, a college for female teacher training is being run inside a boys high school. This so-called college has only three rooms for hundreds of students right in the middle of this boys school. There is no facility and no protection for the female students who are stuck in an all boys institute. Even the washrooms are for males only. They are in a miserable condition and one wonders how they will learn in such an atmosphere. One of my nieces is studying there and I received this information from my credible sources. I came to know that the college was allotted land about 20 years ago but it is under a case in the high court.

I have written to the CM Punjab and other authorities about this issue many times but I have heard nothing. Some parents have even gone to the DCO Jhelum but nothing has been done to solve this matter. Why is the CM spending so much money on different educational schemes but does not bother to donate one building to female students who are stuck in a boys school?
