Girl killed in Bannu attack on engagement ceremony

BANNU: A girl was killed and at least 20 others, including four children, were injured in a hand grenade attack on an engagement ceremony late Friday night. According to details, unidentified men lobbed a grenade at the house of Haji Muhammad Liaquat Ali in the Domail area of Bannu where the engagement ceremony of a family member was underway. Twenty-one people, including 16 women and five children, were injured in the attack. The injured were rushed to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital and District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Bannu, where a girl succumbed to her wounds. Police said that the incident could be an outcome of a personal enmity. A case has been registered against unidentified attackers at the Domail Police Station and investigation is underway. Meanwhile, at least six terrorists were killed and four others injured during clashes between two armed groups in Upper Orakzai Agency, on Saturday. According to the political administrator, the incident took place in the Mamoonzai area where two groups used heavy artillery against each other. The clash, which also left four others injured, was underway until the filing of this report. End.
