Gas pipeline blown up in Dera Bugti

03 July, 2012

QUETTA: Unidentified miscreants blew up an eight-inch-diameter gas pipeline in the Pirkoh area of Dera Bugti on Monday.

According to official sources, an explosive device was attached to the gas pipeline, which went off with a big explosion.

As a result, gas supply from well no 41 to the Sui Gas Purification Plant was suspended. A heavy contingent of security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Repair work was started soon after the incident to restore gas supply to the plant. A search operation was started in the area to apprehend the culprits.

The banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) often claims responsibility for targeting gas pipelines in Dera Bugti. However, there were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack.

End.
