French defence minister calls on President

KABUL: The French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called on the Afghan President Hamid Karzai at the Presidential Palace in Kabul on Monday . Both the leaders discussed cooperation between the two countries within the framework of Afghan-France strategic partnership agreement besides the peace process and other bilateral key issues, a president's office press release available with the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) stated. Some proposals regarding the post-2014 French presence in Afghanistan and their cooperation were also discussed in the meeting, the press release added. The French defence minister briefed Hamid Karzai about his visit to Afghanistan for to celebrating the new year with the troops of France. Terming Afghanistan a historic friend of Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai lauded its years-long assistance with his country. End.
