LAHORE: A judicial magistrate on Monday acquitted four people accused in the Olympic passport scandal, due to lack of evidence. Earlier, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced the accused officials of the passport department and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), including Asif, Wasif, Fahim and Ghafar, before the magistrate after a two-day remand. FIA told the court the accused were innocent as no proof could be found against them. The court was informed that accused Muhammad Ali Asad was the culprit who had attempted to defame Pakistan through fraud. The FIA officials got their statement registered in case diary. Judicial Magistrate Sohail Anjum, after hearing the arguments, acquitted the four accused. End.
