Four more killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Four people were killed in separate incidents of violence in different areas of the metropolis on Thursday, police said. A man affiliated with Shia Ulema Council (SUC) was killed outside his house located in Ancholi, Block 20, FB Aarea within the precincts of Samnabad police station. SHO Zamin Abbas said that armed riders emerged on bikes outside the house of 30-year-old Syed Danish Abbas Zaidi, son of Syed Ghazanfar Abbas Zaidi, and asked him to come outside. As he just came out of his house gate, the culprits shot him dead and fled. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy. The SHO said Danish was the father of one child and worked at private company. The officer said initial investigation suggested that ongoing killing on sectarian basis was behind the incident. Separately, a man affiliated with Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC) was killed near his house in Faqeera Goth, Sohrab Goth within the remit of Sohrab Goth police station. An official said 28-year-old Akhtar Gabol, son of Limon Khan, was sitting outside his house when two armed riders opened targeted fire on him; as a result, he received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy. He said that the victim was the resident of the same area, and affiliated with MOC. He used to work at a private security company as a guard. Meanwhile, the shot-dead body of a man was found from Sultanabad, Manghopir within the limits of Manghopir police station. SHO Ashfaq Baloch said that the victim, later identified as 33-year-old Shakeel, son of Abdullah, was found dead in the area. He said that the body was shifted to the ASH for medico-legal formalities. The officer said that unidentified culprits first kidnapped the victim and later shot him dead. They fled after throwing the body at the said area. The officer told that victim was the resident of the same area and worked at garments factory. The motive behind the killing was yet to be ascertained. A body packed in a gunny bag was found from bushes near Jam Goth, Malir within the jurisdiction of Memon Goth police station. According to police, after getting the information about the body lying in the area, the police rushed to the site and shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and identification, where the victim was identified as 21-year-old Imran, son of Abdul Aziz. The police said that victim was kidnapped by armed culprits, who after torturing, killed him and threw the body. The officer said that Imran lived in Malir. He suspected that the victim might have been killed over a personal enmity. Police arrest criminals: The Karachi police during their on-going drive against the criminals, arrested 145 accused between Thursday and Wednesday. A police statement on Thursday said that those arrested included 107 absconders and 10 proclaimed offenders. It said that there were 10 encounters of the police with the alleged criminals and that six gangs were busted during the period. As many as 22 pistols, two mousers, one hand grenade and two mobile phones were recovered by the police from their possession. The police have registered cases and started investigations. End.
