Forces kill 9 gunmen, 18 arrested

KABUL: Combined force killed nine suspected anti-government gunmen and detained 18 others during separate operations throughout the past 24 hours, defence ministry said Wednesday. The combined force conducted a string of operations in Alishang district of eastern Laghman province, killing nine gunmen, the defence ministry said in a press release. Separately, it said, 13 opponents were killed in Jalrez district of Wardak province, three in Barak-e-Barak district of Logar province and two in Gereshk district of Helmand province. The defence ministry said the combined force seized 13 landmines in Panjwayee district of Kandahar, adding eight Afghan National Army troops were also wounded after separate attacks by Taliban in Zabul, Laghman and Kapisa provinces. Taliban rejected the claims of Afghan authorities. End.
