Five people fall prey to violence in Karachi

KARACHI: As many as five people were killed in separate acts of violence in the city on Wednesday, police said.
In the first incident, a man affiliated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was killed on Khalid Bin Waled Road within the precincts of Ferozabad police station.
Station House Officer (SHO) Jhanzaib Khan said Ayaz, son of Badiuzzaman, was killed by unidentified armed pillion riders who opened targeted fire on him when he was standing near his office. As a result, Ayaz received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was brought to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
The SHO said that Ayaz was the resident of Mehmoodabd area and used to work in the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC). He said that victim was the ex-sector in-charge of the party. The officer said that initially investigation suggested that the ongoing killing on sectarian basis was behind the incident.
Separately, a man was gunned down and two brothers were wounded in Bohrapir area within the precincts of Risala police station.
Police said that Aleem Pervez, 40, son of Saleem, was shot dead and two brothers, Aun Raza and Ali Raza, were wounded by armed pillion riders when they were on the way their homes in an auto rickshaw. The officer said that the injured brothers belonged to Bohra community and ran a hardware shop in the area. The officer said that the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.
A man was killed in Surjani Town within the jurisdiction of Surjani police station.
According to police, the victim, 32-year-old Hayat, son of Ameer, was killed by armed riders. The culprits managed to flee after committing the swift crime. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. The officer said that victim was the resident of New Karachi area and worked as a real estate agent. He said that initially the land dispute appeared to have been cause behind the killing. Further investigation was underway.
Meanwhile, a body packed in a gunny bag was found from Banaras Flyover within limits of Pirabad police station.
Police said apparently, no mark of bullet or torture was found on his body, however, it was shifted to the ASH to ascertain the nature of the death.
An alleged member of an outlawed organisation was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal within the limits of Sachal police station.
The victim was identified as Afzal, 25, son of Azadar Hussain. SHO Azhar Ali Iqbal said Afzal was associated with the People's Amn Committee (PAC) and was wanted to police in extortion cases. The officer said that the initial investigation suggested that he might have been killed by his own companions over some unexplained reason.
Two bandits killed: Two alleged bandits were killed during an encounter with the police near Gol Market area within the limits of Nazimabad police station. A police constable was also wounded during the encounter.
SHO Sajid Javed said that the encounter took place when three robbers were busy in looting a super store in the said market, adding that during encounter, two robbers, whose identities were yet to be ascertained, were killed, however, their other accomplice managed to escape. Two pistols, looted cash and mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.
